Single of the week: ‘Usual Suspektz’ Deliver Intense Bars with ‘No Fear’ off the ‘As of Now’ compilation

Review by Lou Adams

As I look forward to the release of their new EP “Outsiderz” I couldn’t help but to have Usual Suspektz Bomb Vision SK & Sos – A – Leo’s track “No Fear” on repeat. Produced by the awe-inspiring DJ Mercilless (Benny The Butcher, Ghostface, Styles P, Moon Crickets), “No Fear” appears as track number 4 on the “As of Now” compilation album on the Taot recordings imprint. The tuneful sound laced with lyrics about inner city realities will have the listener on the edge of their seats paying attention to each and every word coming out of the mouths of Bomb Vision SK & Sos – A – Leo.

Sos starts off the track by letting you know up front that he isn’t here to play around! “I’ll fuck a niggaz life up; you don’t want it with me! I turn the lights out! Vampires are mercenaries” SK closes out the track by giving you the aftermath of what happens every day throughout the urban sprawls of the world. “Yellow tape scenery; caused by lust for Celtic type greenery. Soldier movements with all type of machinery” Both emcees complement each other to make a statement on “No Fear” If the music and bars don’t get you the unforgettable chorus will “So you walk da streets with no fear? If you don’t listen’ bwoy da ends near”

“No Fear” continues to showcase what Usual Suspektz has released in the past from their various projects, an offering of infectious, hardcore, boom-bap beats with lyrical content that will satisfy the most solid Hip-Hop head. “No Fear” is for those who can appreciate music that not only makes your head nod, but sets your mind on a journey. It’s a great listen and the video is bananas as well! It’s one of the standout tracks on the “As of Now” compilation which features music by Big Shug, Elzhi, Asun Eastwood, Maestro Fresh Wes and Statik Selektah.
