After a 2-year hiatus from music, MX is back with the first volume of his “Wasted Potential EP” This EP is by far MXs most honest and most personal release yet. The EP is led with the first single ‘Ungqo.” Ungqo is a Zulu word which means “true/or authentic.”
On this mid tempo anthem MX sprinkles colloquial phrases in isiZulu, delivered with a vernacular cadence to create a modern urban sing along single in 2020.
The Ep consists of four tracks; running at just over 15mins – Namely, Retweet This, Ungqo, Bout That & Shouldn’t Change.
This makes up MX’s latest offering where he truly takes listeners in his confidence. Having worked with artists such as Aewon Wolf, Nasty C and the late Inseezy on past projects, Wasted Potential Volume 1 is a solo journey without features, it’s the truest expression of MX’s unique style.
The first track, “Retweet This” he expresses his immense appreciation for the love he has received from those who have supported him from his very first body of work, I AM X EP. Change is a reflection on MX’s experiences within the music industry and being a creative in South Africa, He speaks about cutting through the noise and focusing on becoming the best version of yourself. He worked with South African Fine/Street Artist Sphephelo Mnguni to create the Ep cover which is a painting on canvas.
MX will be producing videos for two of the four tracks Ungqo and Retweet This. While anticipating the release of the videos and Wasted Potential Volume 2 in June, one can stream Wasted Potential off his website which link the release to all major DSP’s .
